The Cold War never escalated to direct confrontation, and was for the most part a series of proxy battles in countries such as Korea and Vietnam, thus it cannot be considered a world war

The war on terror takes place only in the middle east, thus it is not a WORLD war

neither of them live up to the scale of either of the World Wars
The next world war will involve war all over the world, hence a world war, will involve heavy casualties, at least as many as any of the first two World Wars, and may involve nukes...
